Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F), founded by Henry Ford and incorporated on June 16, 1903 is today a global automotive industry leader based in Dearborn, Mich., manufactures or distributes automobiles across six continents.

With about 163,000 employees and about 70 plants worldwide, the company's automotive brands include Ford and Lincoln.

Lincoln is the luxury brand of Ford. Founded in 1917 by Henry M. Leland and acquired by Ford in 1922, Lincoln has manufactured vehicles since the 1920s. Leland named the brand after his longtime hero Abraham Lincoln. Mercury ceased production in early 2011.

The company provides financial services through Ford Motor Credit Company. Ford owns a small stake in Mazda but has sold Volvo to Zhejiang Geely Holding, parent of Geely Automobile, for about $1.3 billion cash and other monetary consideration.
